ProAid's focus is on organisations in these categories who operate in either New Zealand or in the African, Asian or Pacific regions. ProAid can offer both part time services over a number of months or years, or full time services over a specific limited period. We are based in Auckland, New Zealand but can travel, conducting site visits etc. as required and necessary. With a core staff of experienced professionals and a team approach to most projects, ProAid will be able to offer a more balanced better quality service with a greater ethical approach than many of its competitors.
ProAid was established in 2009 by Dayan Eager, who remains as the founding Director. He has spent 18 years working in the not-for-profit sector in Management positions in Asia and New Zealand. He has also been involved in consultancy services for African
and Pacific organisations.
Dayan is a clear communicator (both written and verbal) with high relationship building skills and an easily approachable manner. He is experienced at negotiating at government level as well as working on project implementation at the grassroots.

Dayan Eager brings a wealth of experience, having worked for the past 18 years in the Asia and Pacific regions in both International relief and development settings. The Asia Pacific work has included partnership and collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment, Ministry of Finance, and the National Disaster Management Offices in Mongolia, China, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Cook Islands, Samoa, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and PNG. He has also partnered in these countries with civil societies, donor offices, and international NGOs. His procurement experience includes establishing country offices, setting up warehousing, transporting goods from various points, sourcing supplies related to food and non-food items including water and sanitation, agriculture, education, health, vehicles and telecommunications.
Sound Understanding of Official Development Programs:
Dayan has established country offices in India and Samoa, including registering,licensing, hiring staff, establishing systems, processes and structures. He has overseen budget preparation for small to large projects including tracking expenses and reporting to donor offices. He has also designed and secured funding applications to donors including NZAID, AUSAID, USAID and a variety of UN organisations. Dayan has recruited and managed staff (including contractors) on a variety of projects, including ongoing capacity development. He has also been involved in resolving complex staff issues in difficult situations and in performing annual assessment and evaluation in a multiple of partner offices in Asia and the Pacific.

Rendt has worked in the International aid and not for profit community development sectors for over 20 years. He has coordinated and managed numerous emergency medical relief programmes for MERLIN and Médecins sans Frontières in Eastern Europe, Central Africa, the Middle-East and Central Asia, particularly in conflict scenarios and emergency disasters. He has also worked in NZ with the Aotea Community Trust on multiple social development programmes. Rendt is proficient in producing successful funding applications, developing funding bases for non-profit organisations, creating monitoring and evaluating programmes for developmental and humanitarian projects and conducting academic research in the fields of social science and developmental studies.

Michael has 10 years experience in the development sector, founding the Programmes Department within ChildFund New Zealand, establishing its partnerships and community development programmes. He has well practiced and effective general management skills, knowledge and tools including HR recruitment, coaching, personal and team development. He has excellent sustainable participatory community development knowledge and skills, including fundraising, cultural awareness, participatory processes, organisational and programme strategy, well grounded marketing knowledge and networking skills, multi-lateral and direct partner and project development, identification and assessment criteria and tools, planning and design, budgeting, management, measurement and monitoring, grant proposal writing and reporting, policies, planning, listening and speaking skills, group presentation and facilitation skills.

Bonnie has 12 years’ experience in the areas of project management and disaster risk management, particularly across the continuum of disaster mitigation and preparedness as well as managing humanitarian response and rehabilitation and on to sustainable development. She has worked for a diverse range of organisations both nationally–as a Community Development Coordinator for Housing New Zealand, for instance–and internationally–as a Humanitarian Affairs Coordinator for World Vision, Tear Fund and Oxfam. Geographic experience spans Africa, South-East Asia and on to South America and the Pacific. Approved tutor in Humanitarian Assistance for Fordham University, USA and member of Oxfam’s Pacific Response Register.

Thelma has experience in community development and developmental assistance, having worked in the NGO and government sectors to deliver social development outcomes. Thelma is well-versed in programme management, capacity building and strategic planning having worked as a Social Development Specialist for the government of the Philippines and as a National and International Programme Officer for Tear Fund New Zealand. Additionally, Thelma has academic qualifications up to the Master level in community development and developmental assistance.

Neil has worked extensively in the fields of agricultural policy, developmental economics and development policy. He has worked for a range of commercial business developments within the agriculture sector, at a number of levels in the New Zealand agriculture and dairy industries. He has also worked in developing and delivery of agricultural outcomes in a number of Asian countries, working with local governments, private agricultural companies and liaising with New Zealand companies. During this time, he also worked in the mobile internet solutions sector, specifically developing software for agricultural solutions. Most recently he has worked in academia in the fields of developmental economics and policy.

As deputy director, she provides technical assistance to the design, conduct and evaluation of capacity building activities for local government officials and functionaries as well as the trainers of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
